RIGA Hires Balthaser as Manager of Communications

April 1, 2019

Dalton Balthaser has joined the Rhode Island Golf Association as the Manager of Communications and Technology.

In this position, Balthaser will focus on increasing the RIGA’s presence on social media, planning communication initiatives promoting RIGA championships, qualifiers, member play days and the organization’s Weekly Invitational program. In addition, he'll provide support for member clubs with the various forms of technology in addition to creating communications platforms highlighting the RIGA’s members, clubs and players.

“I’m thrilled to be working with the RIGA and continuing with golf communications since I have developed an interest in sharing stories about clubs, players and tournaments,” Balthaser, 22, of Kutztown, Pa. said. “I have a great enthusiasm for the game and will do whatever it takes to advance the communication initiatives of the RIGA and help promote its long, storied history.”

Balthaser graduated from Temple University in May 2018, where he majored in Journalism. During his time as an undergraduate, he was a sports beat writer for The Temple News and an on-air host and golf podcaster at WHIP Radio. He also spent time at NBC Sports Philadelphia as a Digital Media Intern and OwlScoop.com as a Sports Intern covering Temple football and basketball.

Balthaser spent the last two seasons as a communications intern with the Golf Association of Philadelphia where he gained an appreciation for the people who are valuable to a golf association running smoothly and efficiently.

“Golf is all about relationships,” Balthaser said. “I am very excited to join an organization that dates back to 1902, has tremendous leadership and passion among its core group of people. I am excited to get started and get to know everything there is to know about the RIGA’s players, members, tournaments and history.”
